Vlan Numbers are the same for vdsl and ftth.
IP TV will be tricky to setup, I would suggest begin with Internet and if that is working start with IPTV
So go with let’s say DD-WRT to be able to set VLAN ID=2 for Internet?
Then you need some kind of magic box, which changes/removes the vlan header. That could be a (web) manged switch or the ZXHN H268N.
For the ZXHN, you have the set it into “SU” Modus → https://www.a1community.net/modem-festnetz-hardware-315/zte-und-unifi-ubiquiti-usg-252597
For the other version with the switch, you need to consult the switch manual.
It is possible to use vlan 2 with dd-wrt https://www.a1community.net/modem-festnetz-hardware-315/dd-wrt-an-ftth-gpon-anschluss-247934
Danke, jo93. Will post results if successful. Thanks again.
hi @Penko ,
beside the right vlan (vlan id 4) there is much more necessary for a1tv
i am quite sure that a1tv will not work with your router
if you set the a1 modem in the single user operational mode a1tv ist also not working
a1tv is simple not configured in this mode
the a1 modem already makes the vlan tagging in this mode
but only for vlan 2
so only internet is possible behind the a1 modem in su
it makes not much sense to make a bridge from ethernet to ethernet ( i mean the su mode)
you already have ethernet on the gpon … so whats the point ?
only if your router not supports vlan on the wan interface it makes sense to use it
but a1tv is not possible
a vlan switch will do the same work and needs less energy
i think you can use your router only if you let the a1 modem in multi user op.mode (default mode)
a1tv can work in your network if your router os supports multicast streams over the wan interface
if not you can still use your router as w-lan ap
Hi rwhlive, thanks a lot for your answer.
The only reason I wanted wrt3200 is because it is wall mountable and H268N is not. The place I want to install it is small and definitely for one device only. I checked at A1 and they have nothing which is wall mountable. I decided that top Linksys router will be a good substitute but obviously I was wrong. To my best understanding either you use what A1 gives you or nothing. I am wondering why is that. Are there other ISP in Vienna with which I can use router I want or with all things are that complicated? Thanks again. Have a beautiful weekend.
hi @Penko ,
if you choose the right router you should have no problem
for example a fritz!box 7530 international edition or a fritz!box 7590 a/ch edition will do the job
you can wallmount it
it supports a1tv
setup is as simple as it gets
select ‘a1 gpon’ in the config profile and that’s it
I wish I was able to travel in time or to be able to see the future. Thanks a lot rwhlive.
The bigger A1 Modem is also wallmontable
I took Fritzbox 7590 a/ch edition and is already on the wall. Just selected A1 GPON and it works. Needless to say it is several light years behind Linksys build quality. Wondering why it is even more expensive?!? But, yes, it works.
Vielen Dank, Penko
hi @Penko ,
the fb works and has all essential functions for your a1 experience
i know linksys routers and all possible builds
they are not so great like you make it sound
but it’s not worth a discussion
foremost it matters what someone really needs
how fast you can come to a solution
and finally the stability
the fb has sure a lot of extras you don’t need
the integrated modem and phone functions for example
that adds to the price
I don’t know the details, I fly airplanes for living. Just pure observation from the outside and what I can see through the vents on the board. What is important, one works the other not. Thanks a lot for helping me to solve the issue.
Merry Christmas, Penko
oh, you spoke about hardware
and i spoke about software builds (thats my area)
anyway … i am glad it works
merry christmas
