The caller ID service is not a free service from A1! You have to contact the A1 hotline (0800 664 100) for activate this service. The price is 0,99€ per month.

I am new here in austria and I find it hard to believe that telecommunication compnies are still charging for such basic services but it seems that A1 is not as progressed as I had thought. I wonder if upc is also charging for the caller id. or what other companies are doing.In any case thank you for the clarification.

You're mistaken. Austria is a county where basically 99% of private calls are dialed via mobile phones. Fixed Lines are of no interrest for privat users any more. That's why you you have to pay a little fee for this service called CLIP, when you have a POTS fixed line.

For ISDN it's included, but who needs one any more, when you are not a company?



A1 does not charge for CLIP service on mobile callings, whether post-paid or pre-paid.



Again: Austria is a county of mobile communication. 99% of private users are not asking for fixed line communication solutions, therefore you will get such services and packages not for free within these segments.
