I am having trouble getting to some websites. For instance one popular one that offers pirated software gives me the following message:
Website gesperrtAufgrund eines Sperrbegehrens nach § 81 Abs 1 UrhG wurde diese Website gesperrt

And also I am having trouble getting to some of the anti-Fluchtlinge websites.

Whats going on? I never used to have problems with A1.

I have no problem getting to these websites from my PC at work.

"Aufgrund eines Sperrbegehrens nach § 81 Abs 1 UrhG wurde diese Website gesperrt"
means the website has been prohibited by governmental decicion, so A1 has to obey.
The government exercising censorship? That never used to be the case in Austria. This place is becoming like China. And what about the pro Pergida website: pi-news.net? Why am I not able to get this on A1?

nmstoughDo you already have tried to use a webproxy?
Yes using a US VPN works to get there. But why not in Austria?

Well, so it seems

They aren´t execising "censorship", the pirate sites got blocked on DNS on behalf of the RIAA, so that´s not a government decision, that´s simply the law. Unlike China, it´s not the government who places this rules, it´s the united states content industry ... which one is more saddening is upto you.

For pi-news.net, I am getting an Server Error from the corresponding Server.
Which means, your request is not handled properly by the destination server.

You also mentioned Pergida? I assume you meant PEGIDA?

anyways, due to the nature of both, the site pi-news.net and the pegida movment, both could be targets of a hack or ddos attack, or they just wrecked their servers themselves...
Yes, sorry its Pegida. I have heard that they are often victimized by these kinds of attacks. It just didnt occur to me that one could reach it from certain locations but not from others.

"victimized" is a funny word, considering the context.

Sites like this get moved very often, because of different reasons (Upgrade, DDoS, or just to fool the Fed´s)

This site even makes a difference in using www.* or not.

Without www. DNS Points you to the original Server located at liquid web in the US.
With www. you get to a Mirror hosted at Akamai, where you can land on one of many servers, dependent on your location and you DNS mood of the day.

Just see how much different IP´s Netcraft registered for the site just in October.
